November 18, 2002 NYC Bloggers was featured in a Wall Street Journal article on how to find good blogs. We're "the best place to find the blogs of the most opinionated and interesting group of people on the planet: New Yorkers." If you're not a WSJ subscriber you can read the article mirrored here. November 17, 2002 The Sunday Daily News (11/10/02) ran an article on the NYC Bloggers. There was even a huge picture of the crew in the dead tree edition, not the online one. Go check the article out online... October 3, 2002 We've been named Best Way to Peek Into Your Neighbors' Lives in this year's Village Voice Best of New York. (Thanks, Douglas!) And Will's new Blogspotting blog over at MSNBC listed us as a "cool regional blog resource." Note: Like the MTA, we'll be re-opening downtown stations soon. Watch this space. September 3, 2002 "Die Blogger vom Times Square": NYC Bloggers is featured in German magazine Der Spiegel. Check out the article here, or for a somewhat-translated version go here. June 27, 2002 The New York Times says that nycbloggers.com "has gone a long way toward putting New York's growing community of bloggers on the map. The subway map, anyway." June 2, 2002 We've made a few improvements to the site: a mailing list sign up page, a guestbook, and the first of our "featured blogs" on the home page. Plus, the most recently added blogs are featured on the homepage, and on each borough page. More changes to come, watch this space! May 31, 2002 Since our launch this Tuesday, we've been overwhelmed by the response. Over 450 bloggers from every borough, representing 189 subway stops, have signed up. We got over 20,000 visitors. We've been written up in Slate and onlinejournalism.com, and we were yesterday's “Cool Site” at the National Review. NYCbloggers topped the lists at Daypop and Blogdex. Jade Walker at Poynter.org calls us “one of the coolest weblog directories I've seen on the Internet.” Over at webmonkey, we're the current Monkey Bite — they say we make “engineering ‘accidental’ meetings with your favorite blogger a whole lot easier.” And there's already a parody of sorts over at Fireland. Not bad for our first week! We had no idea when we put this together that it would be so popular. Or even that there were so many bloggers in New York City. Thank goodness this isn't 1999 or we'd be considering a disastrous IPO. We do have plans for some improvements to this site that will make it even more useful to New York's bloggers.
